Ready, Set, Recycle!
Packaging is at the cornerstone of our Better Planet strategy, and that’s why we’ve set ourselves an ambitious goal: to ensure 100% of our packaging is reusable, recyclable, or compostable by 2030. We understand that recyclability is not a one-size-fits-all solution, it’s a complex and constantly evolving challenge shaped by diverse infrastructure and the global regulatory landscape.
Our mission is clear: to design packaging that is not only functional but also future ready, with recyclability at its core.
Widely recyclable
This category includes packaging formats that are accepted for recycling by most local authorities or municipal curbside programmes. These formats, such as our cartons and paper envelopes, can usually be placed in your home recycling bin.

Designed for recyclability
Defining this type of packaging can be challenging, as recycling infrastructure varies on an international scale. Broadly speaking, it includes packaging that has been designed for recyclability but is not yet widely accepted yet due to challenges with infrastructure and collection systems.
That being said, we are still looking to reduce our plastic usage where we can. We are on a journey to remove unnecessary overwraps and innovate where needed to support a circular future.

Industrially compostable
A significant portion of our tea bag portfolio has now been converted to plant-based teabags. This means that the tea bag is made from bioplastic derived from renewable plant-sources rather than from fossil fuels. This switch allows the tea bags to be industrially composted via food waste collection schemes, where available.
